Everytime I watch a video about the DS version of FFIV, it's like one constant facepalm. Aaaaaargh.
Screwed up CGI (oh noes at Yang's face), stupid 3-dimensional imagery, names of all the objects have changed, dialogue has been altered...actually, the last few of those are more or less like those in the GBA version.
Playing the one released in America, where Cain was actually Kain, and Yang actually sounded like someone jumping into action (rather than a bit of a pussy)...so much better.
Also I started panicking when I saw Cecil's extra Dark attack, and stuff like Yang's Buildup, I was like I DON'T WANT MORE OF THIS
Anyway, I just watched one of them all taking on Golbez. Just before Rydia rejoins them. Firstly, Golbez is somehow floating off the ground very unrealistically - or maybe he's wearing boots so stupidly black that they've camouflaged into the background. The artwork of the original SNES one was far superior, and that was in 2D. When 2D looks better than 3D, you know you're going down. :3
I have a feeling all I do here is rant on about games, so I'll try to stop doing that for a bit. Although, I AM confused at why the levelling is so different - in DS, you have to be around level 40 to take on Golbez then, rather than 20 or 30 something in the original. And on battling the Four Fiends for the last time, you're at level 80...rather than in the 50s. I never even saw level 80. The levelling certainly seems to be different - either that or there's something even more dreadful stuck inside.
So, no uni today due to both my lecturers being away.
I thought I'd played all the SNES RPGs, but no! I found one just today called Treasure Hunter G, something like that. Awesome graphics. But...but...you make money by catching frogs in the bushes and SELLING them to be EATEN.
HOW CAN I BETRAY MY RACE LIKE THIS
HOW
...and I just made about 115 gold off the ones I did sell. NOOOOOOOOOO
Dual Orb II is another one I ought to keep playing - my party became so unstable, I had an invincible warrior, an invincible cleric who kept running out of healing, a girl from the future with a gun, and a thief with stats so bad they spelt out a negative l33t.
Tehe. I like strategic ones too, like Front Mission (which I never got far in) and Bahamut Lagoon, and yes, that other one with EXTREMELY BAD TRANSLATIONS. What was it called?...Feda, the emblem of justice.
Ahaahahaa. There was a curiously funny clip from Prince of Persia 2 someone made:
www.youtube.com/watchMan, I never even saw that glitch. Still can't work out to put text in the link.
